Why Does My Retainer Feel Tight?
A tight retainer can happen for several reasons. The most common reason is that your teeth may have shifted slightly since you first received your retainer. Even though your braces have done their job, your teeth can still move a little over time due to natural growth or changes in your mouth. If you’ve skipped wearing your retainer for a few days, your teeth might have shifted enough to make it feel tight.
Another cause could be improper care of your retainer. If it hasn’t been cleaned properly or stored in its case, it could warp. Retainers are made from plastic or acrylic, which can change shape if exposed to heat or moisture. A tight retainer might be your reminder to schedule a check-up with your orthodontist.
